Nest Feathers and Twine - Formally Artist's Block Studio

The things that make a house a home and the stuff that holds is all together.

Years ago I started this blog with a mindset and goals that I have found have changed direction over time. I am excited to say that this blog has a new name.....Nest Feathers and Twine. I hope you come by and visit often. Feel free to get comfortable and kick off your shoes and join me on this journey of metamorphosis.

here kitty kitty......

this piece will be a hard one to give up.....my daughter and i have fallen in love with it! i am sure there is someone out there who will love this neck piece as much as we do! the kitty comes from a vintage childrens book, in the middle is a ball of yarn, that has been wire wrapped with seed beads here and there and the bubble on the bottom is vintage text that says 'meow'. no matter how hard i tried i could not get the whole piece to photograph well......someday my fairy godmommy will bring me a new camera.......right?

the wire wrapped fiber was inspired from artful images that deryn mentock created.....a link to her blog is on the right side of the page. her work is beautiful. just my style!

well, i am off to bed. pretty early for me. since the kids have been on summer break we have all been staying up until dawn. once i start arting it is so hard to stop. i have sat so long today my butt has taken the shape of the chair....not a pretty sight....but it was not to begin with anyway! who knows maybe a rolly chair shaped butt is an improvement at this point!

well the bladder is screaming that i am one sneeze or cough away from an embarrassing moment, so off i go! chat at ya tomorrow!

Beautiful piece. Thanks for stopping by my site. I love your multi media art. I have been corresponding with another artist in Vermont. Here's her site:
http://selftaughtartist.blogspot.com/ She does multi media art with found objects. She uses metals though and would be the polar opposite to your pearly style - which I love! I think you'd enjoy checking it out. :)
Oh and perhaps try that photo again on a darker surface and it might reflect less. Cheers!

Thank you for the nice comments on my blog. Your pieces are antique looking with such grace to them.
