Nest Feathers and Twine - Formally Artist's Block Studio

The things that make a house a home and the stuff that holds is all together.

Years ago I started this blog with a mindset and goals that I have found have changed direction over time. I am excited to say that this blog has a new name.....Nest Feathers and Twine. I hope you come by and visit often. Feel free to get comfortable and kick off your shoes and join me on this journey of metamorphosis.

happy new year

our family welcomed 2009 with open arms.
we stayed up until the wee hours of the morning and slept until the early afternoon.
the christmas decorations have been taken down and packed up and are ready to go back downstairs in storage. as i wrap what seems to be an endless collection of ornaments, many antique, all with fond memories attached to them, i recall what we have experienced over the last year. once they are secure in their storage container i anxiously anticipate what memories i will be packing away next year.

the winter months are very hard ones for me. everything is gray, bare, and dead. no song birds singing, no crickets chirping in beat with the frogs croaking, butterflies have fluttered far away. the devine aroma of freshly cut grass and blooming flowers a faded memory. the chill in the air keeps me captive in the house, counting the days until it is warm enough to sit outside and count shooting stars while in awe of just how small we all are in comparison to the universe while bats swoop in to get a better view of us and the owls calling out to each other.....
i hate....i really really dislike the cold.
snow is only neat when all those you love are tucked safely in at home and the snow is new and fresh.

to beat the winter blah's, january in our house is a celebration of all things snowy. we replace the christmas tree with a white tree decorated in clear, white, silver, and blue ornaments. snowmen, new and old scattered here, there, and everywhere. white poinsettias, garlands made of branches with faux ice and snow sprinkled over them, and sparkly store bought snow flakes hung throughout the house along with homemade paper cut out ones.

happy all things snowy to you.
